Why we built Kweela
The internet was supposed to make the world smaller.
It did, technically. Now everybody can be misunderstood by somebody twelve thousand kilometres away before breakfast.
That is not nothing.
But somewhere between personal websites, forums, group chats, social networks,and the invention of the notification that refuses to die, being online becameless about belonging somewhere and more about performing in a very large room. You post.
A machine decides whether the post deserves oxygen. People you haveknown for years may never see it, while a stranger with a cartoon frog for aprofile picture arrives immediately to explain...
